I was brought up seeing my grandfather constantly travelling. Since I was born until I was around 12, my grandfather did not stop for more than a few days a week at home. As he was working for a multi-national company, to my eyes he was the original cityhopper.
Every time he went on one of his trips, he would always bring me back a souvenir. Most of them were things he could grab on the airport (or even on the plane) upon his return.
One of the items he brought back was this beautiful, yellow plastic, Heathrow airport mug. It was an all yellow (Pantone Yellow) mug with some planes crossing it in a 45º angle and it spelled "Heathrow", in (I would later find out) Helvetica Neue 75 Bold . It was a truly beautiful object. I don't know what happened to it, but I sure miss it.
With a little (read crucial) help from the Neubau Welt Illustrations, this is my homage: to my grandfather and to that mug.
Wherever you both may be.
